In celebration of the 125th anniversary of incorporation!

historical book

It was 125 years ago this year that Commerce was incorporated as a city.  The Friends of the Commerce Public Library are celebrating by publishing a book full of historical photographs from their Local History Archive collection in partnership with the Special Collections Department at the TAMU-Commerce James Gee Library.  It includes photographs of the square, public schools, railroad, civic leaders, the university, pioneers, farming community, and much more.  Chery Westhafer, local history librarian for the public library and Dr. Jim Conrad, local historian and recently retired Head of Special Collections at the university library are the co-authors.  All proceeds of the book go directly to support the public library.

The book is a 9"x6" soft cover with 136 pages and over 250 black and white photographs.  There are over 850 names indexed.  The price of the book is $19.95 +$1.65 tax for a total of $21.60 each.
