The Commerce Public Library Literacy Program

We are a ProLiteracy member organization.

The Library is open from 6:00-8:00 on Thursdays for Family Nights.  GED classes, early literacy activities, computer assistance, assistance with electronic resources, and fun family events will be offered!

Do You Know An Adult Who Needs To:
Learn to read or improve basic education skills?
Learn to speak or improve English?
Prepare for the GED?

There are two options for those who need to prepare for the GED.  

Online Instruction: 
If you are  unable to meet the scheduled tutoring sessions at the library or if you want to work at your own pace, we offer an completely on-line program.

Volunteers are needed for small group or individual tutoring sessions.  Call Nan Clay at (903) 886-6858 for more information.

For information about taking the GED test, visit GED Testing Service web site. 
This is the website you will use to register for the test.  It also has tutorials you may use and a service that you can purchase. 

The Commerce Public Library Literacy program is a free adult literacy program that assists in preparing for the GED, provides basic literacy tutoring, and offers help with English as a second language.

Classes held in the Literacy Classroom at the Commerce Public Library
ESL class: Mondays 1-3 pm
Current GED class schedule:
Tuesdays: 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. 
Wednesdays: 12:00 noon-3:00 p.m.
 
Thursday: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
