About Us

Commerce Public Library is a free public library providing materials which contribute to the informational and recreational needs of the community. We collect and preserve archival materials related to the history of Commerce and the surrounding areas. Come see us!

Commerce Public Library is located in the historic former Post Office in downtown Commerce, and is owned and operated by the Friends of the Commerce Public Library. We have moved to a temporary location during the renovation of the historic building.  The temporary location is 1008 Main Street across Authors Park from the old building.

 

We serve people in Hunt County and its surrounding areas.

Our holdings include books,  E-books, DVDs, audio books,  public computer work stations for internet access and desktop applications and free WiFi for your devices.  We offer fax and copy services, IRS forms, a local newspaper, and a public meeting room.  We are also a Passport Acceptance Agency and photos are available.

Our Local History and Geneology collection contains books, photographs and memorabilia dating back to the late 1800s. The Commerce Journal has been digitized an can be found at http://commerce.advantage-preservation.com

We offer tutoring in GED preparation, ESL and Adult Basic Education.

Our Children's programs include preschool story time, kids' computers, and a popular Summer Reading Club.
