Family Nights

Family Nights at the Commerce Public Library

The Commerce Public Library is now open later on Thursdays for Family Nights, extending hours on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  The library invites families and individuals of all ages to visit during these extended hours for activities designed to promote literacy in our community and provide fun and activities for the entire family.  For more resources that help families learn together, click here.

During Family Nights the public computers will be reserved for groups and/or one-on-one computer literacy activities such as setting up e-mail, creating facebook and twitter accounts, job searching, and homework help.  We hope visitors will also explore the many online resources that the library provides.

We will have read-alouds for children, craft projects, and a chance for everyone in the family to check out materials.  We invite those without library cards to sign up for one.  All you will need is your driver’s license or id with your correct address or a license or id with something to verify your address such as a piece of current mail.  You do not have to live in Commerce to get a card.

Every Thursday, staff and volunteers will be available for assistance in the areas of GED preparation, homework help, reading for children and adults, computer literacy, e-reader/Overdrive tutorials, and more.  There will also be special programs each Thursday.

See our home page for program details.

Family Night events will be held from 6-7 p.m. unless noted.  The Library will be open until 8:00 p.m. each Thursday.

Mark your calendars and add Family Nights, Thursdays 6-8pm, at the Commerce Public Library to your weekly schedule.  If you have any questions, please call (903) 886-6858 or e-mail
